The Tarot is made up of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana & the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana; which are broken up into the 4 Suits: Cups, Wands, Swords, & Coins. Most Tarot Decks share common elements & themes, many times having very similar images on them. Meant to illuminate possibility & reveal what may be hidden, the cards show us who we think we are, who we can be, & how we can get to where we want to be. Even though there are many different kinds & styles of decks there are elements of the Tarot that are universally agreed upon; the Numbers, Card Names, & General Themes, but every reading is up to individual interpretation & style.
At its core the Tarot is a card game. The bright colorful images tell a story, & when you remove the 22 Major Arcana cards, & the 4 knights you have a standard deck of Playing Cards. Actually using a Playing Card deck is fun. It can be easy to get lost in all the colorful images & hidden symbolism that can be drawn into a deck.
When I do a Tarot reading, my intention is to tell a story. I do not predict the future, or give definitive answers. The future is always being created in the moment, & I don’t feel like it’s my place to lock anyone into a way of thinking or acting. I want to shine a light on the possible, open people up to wonder, & remove blocks or loosen limitations holding them back from their infinite potential.
